The International Baccalaureate Diploma
The International
Baccalaureate is a challenging and highly regarded two year programme
qualifying you for direct entry into universities in the UK and many
other universities worldwide. With the IB Diploma you may be
awarded up to one year's credit in the United States.
What do I study if I take the IB Diploma?
You study 3 subjects at Higher level (ie in greater depth) and
3 at Standard level.

- First Language - Your own language
- Second Language - A foreign language, usually English
if this is not your mother tongue - your choice from a selection
of foreign languages if English is your mother tongue
- Individuals and Societies - you may select from History,
Geography, Economics, Business and Management, Ecosystems and
Societies, or Psychology
- Experimental Science - Biology, Chemistry, Physics or
Ecosystems and Societies
- Mathematics - available at three levels
- Sixth Subject - choice of Visual Arts, Information Technology,
Music, Theatre Arts, another Language, Science or subject from
Individuals and Societies
In addition you will:
- Take a course in Theory of Knowledge to help you develop critical
thinking.
- Write an extended essay of 4,000 words based on personal research.
- Take part in activities
involving Creativity, Action and Service (CAS)
