IBO
approved workshops at St. Clare's, Oxford:
Teacher Support
(in cooperation
with the International Baccalaureate
Organisation)
22
June to 5 July 2003
St. Clare's, Oxford is offering IBO workshops for experienced teachers
in June 2003 (Chemistry and English B starting June 22, and Economics,
History, Business & Management starting June 29). The nature
of the programme, involving expert visiting speakers and small groups
working with workshop leaders is reflected in the costs and fees
for the workshops.
We would like
to make it possible for teachers from a wide variety of schools
to participate in these workshops, including those currently facing
financial difficulties, or operating under tight financial constraints.
We are therefore offering a programme of graded support to teachers
from such schools, who might normally not be able to afford to send
a teacher. The support would extend to the workshop costs and to
St.Clare's accommodation only, and not to travel costs or hotel
accommodation.
Please note
that we are working closely with our regional IBAEM office on this
project. All requests for teacher support will be referred to IBAEM
for a confirmation that a school can indeed be considered in need
of financial support.
How to Apply
If you would like teachers to attend the workshop and you believe
that your school fits the criteria for such support, please contact
us for a Workshop Teacher Support application form. This
can be obtained by email from ib.teacher@stclares.ac.uk
and return it by fax (+44 1865 310002), or download
the form here and email
it to Roni Hameiri and Andrew Brown, Course Directors.
This application
will have to be completed and returned to St. Clares by the
application deadline for your application to be considered for this
programme. The application includes a space for your school principal
to confirm that your school considers itself to be in need of this
sort of support.
Application
forms should be accompanied by a covering letter setting out why
you think that you (your teacher) would be a good choice for the
graded Teacher Support programme. This could refer to your commitment
to the ideals of the IB, to your team working in your school, or
to other criteria which you feel are more relevant to you, but should
be a clear statement in no more than 300 words, which will help
our panel to decide on the best candidates for the award.
