Wilderness Challenge Finals
In September 2001 a team of St. Clare's students won the first heat of this survival competition and guaranteed a place in the final, alongside 3 other teams from the UK.

The team was made up of first and second year IB students - Ralph Evins, Toni Deavin, Camilla Lee, Ruth Weston, Emily Munther and Simon Whittle.

After arriving in west Wales, the challenge started by being woken at 4 am on Saturday and driven to the survival forest. The survival scenario was that of a plane crash with the pilot badly injured. The team had to work out where they were located, carry out first aid and attempt to find a way to safety. Their emergency rations had to last 2 days, they had to build a shelter, sleep out overnight, make fires, catch and cook food, collect and filter water, make catapults and fishing lines.

Although the team didn't triumph this time they were only 3 points shy of the winners and scored excellent individual points and commendations. A fantastic effort!
