- Residential Accommodation
St.
Clare's is able to offer comfortable and high quality College residential
accommodation to a high proportion of students. This gives us the
opportunity of ensuring that there is a good balance of nationalities
within the accommodation, including native speakers of English.
All houses have a resident house manager, a senior resident (in
the case of some smaller self-catering houses), or a member of staff
on duty each night. There are some house rules which are intended
to protect the privacy, security and welfare of all residents. You
have your own key and there are no restrictions on when you return
to the house in the evening. However, please note that overnight
visitors are not permitted.
Most houses are mixed, male and female. Most have a comfortable
common room. Bed linen and towels are provided, and rooms are cleaned
each week day. Some houses have coin-operated washing machines and
dryers for personal laundry. Otherwise you can use a launderette
at the Banbury Road campus, or one near the Bardwell Road Centre.
Please note that all College residential accommodation is non-smoking

The College
has a variety of residential properties, mostly in north Oxford.
Houses are a short walk (up to ten minutes) or a short (5-15) minutes
bus ride from the Bardwell Road Centre.
Most superior accommodation is in Logan House, a purpose-built block
of high quality apartments opened in 1996. Logan House is about
2.5 km from the Bardwell Road Centre (25 minutes' walk; a few minutes
by bus or cycle). Other superior accommodation is closer to the
Bardwell Road Centre.
Most standard, self-catering accommodation is in Hampden Manor,
a 17th century manor house 15 minutes by bus from the Bardwell Road
Centre. A bus pass (included in the fees) is provided for students
accommodated in Hampden Manor. Standard accommodation with meals
included is closer to the Bardwell Road Centre.

- Accommodation in private homes (homestay)
Homestay offers
a good opportunity to practise English in an everyday context. Private
homes are carefully selected for their quality and are regularly
inspected by St. Clare's staff.
Accommodation is clean and comfortable, and your host will make
you welcome. You have a single room, unless you specifically request
a twin or double room (for instance if you are coming with a friend
or as a couple). Usually you share a bathroom with your host family.
You are provided with bed linen and towels, and you will be able
to use a washing machine in the house for your personal laundry,
at no extra charge.
Your family provides you with breakfast and dinner. Lunch on weekdays
(Monday - Friday) is included in the fees, and is provided in the
Bardwell Road Centre restaurant.
A few private homes are within walking distance of central buildings,
but most are a short bus journey away (maximum 20 minutes). You
will be provided with a bus pass for free bus transport, if your
homestay accommodation is a longer distance from St. Clare's.

- Guesthouses and hotels
We can also
assist with arrangements or give recommendations for hotels and
guesthouses. A variety is available, from about £40 per night for
bed and breakfast.
Meals
Breakfast and
dinner are served every day in the restaurant at the Bardwell Road
Centre. Lunch is served on weekdays (Monday to Friday). There is
a choice of hot and cold food, including vegetarian options. Drinks
and snacks are also served at meal times, and during breaks.
You may, if you wish, eat lunch or dinner in the dining room or
Sugar House café/bar at the Banbury Road campus. If you opt
for the "meals included" arrangement, you will have breakfast and
dinner every day and lunch from Monday to Friday. If you are living
in self-catering accommodation, you may purchase meals whenever
you wish (cash payment). If you are living in a private home (homestay),
you eat breakfast and dinner there. Lunches on Mondays to Fridays
are included in the fees, and are provided in the Bardwell Road
Centre restaurant.
