When
should I arrive for my course?
- Arrival Day is
Saturday and rooms are available from 1400 hrs.
What
happens on the first Sunday of the course?
- 16+ students attend
an orientation programme of St. Clare's, the local area and Oxford City.
When
do I start my course? Top
- You start your
course at 0900 hrs on Monday with a placement test.
When
does my course finish?
- The last teaching
day is the final Thursday of your course; the day before you depart.
When
do I have to leave at the end of my course at St. Clare's?
- You leave on Friday
and we ask you to vacate your room by 1000 hrs.
Is
insurance included in the course fees? Top
- All course fees
include travel insurance ie. travel, medical and personal possessions
cover. Policy details will be sent with the joining documents.
Are
airport transfers included in the course fees? Top
Are
there any course rules?
- Details of rules
for the courses will be sent to you in your joining documents. There
are not many, but they relate to behaving in a way that accords common
courtesy to everyone around you, observance of the night-time curfew
relevant to your age group and any local laws that apply (eg. drinking
alcohol, misuse of drugs etc.).
- We reserve the
right to expel any student whose behaviour we deem to be unacceptable.
In this unlikely event fees will be forfeited and all travel and ancillary
costs borne by the student/parent.
How
many excursions can I go on during my course?
- 16+ students have
one excursion per week included in the course fees but may select as
many additional excursions as they wish to from the activities programme,
for which a local fee will be charged.
How
much spending money will I need to bring with me? Top
- 16+ students: we
recommend £70 for additional activities/excursions, souvenirs,
etc. plus a £30 key/damage deposit which is refundable at the
end of the course on return of key/no damage caused.
Who
looks after me in my house/residence?
- 16+ students stay
in houses where there is a residential warden who lives there all the
time.
Can
I share a bedroom with my friend?
- It is part of St.
Clare's mission to promote international understanding through education.
Boys and girls are accommodated separately, sharing rooms with similar
aged students and as far as possible of a different nationality. It
is more likely that you could be in the same house as your friend, but
not usually the same room.
What
about laundry?
- 16+ students can
use the on-site coin-operated washing machines for a small charge.
