 Course Details
 The IB Diploma programme is demanding and assumes a certain level of proficiency in study skills as well as mathematics, science, literature, language, and humanities. An introduction to the type of work in the IB Diploma will give students a head start in their courses.

The Diploma Introduction course provides students with an opportunity to become familiar with some of the subject matter covered in the first year of their Diploma programme. In addition it provides a valuable introduction to some of the methods employed and expectations within the Diploma programme as a whole. The course improves confidence in written and spoken English, and develops essential skills in a structured and supportive environment.

All courses include:

  • An introduction to the type of work which will be covered
  • An overview of the number and nature of examinations
  • Advice on subject and option choices
  • Opportunities to discuss individual concerns

The course is divided into four sections: Academic English, the Humanities, Science and Mathematics. The IB Diploma programme requires study of each of these subjects, so the Diploma Introduction is an ideal preparation.

All students will take all sessions, and must attend for the full three weeks of the course.

  • Academic English (EAP for non-native speakers; essay writing, etc. for native speakers)
  • Individuals and Society
  • Science
  • Mathematics
18 hours each week 51 hours over the three weeks of the course (no teaching on the last Friday).
