From Friday 12 to Sunday 14 March, six brave students from St Clares took part in the finals of the Wilderness Challenge. The venue for the final was Grizedale Forest near Conniston on a very wet and windy weekend. St. Clares were up against the Air Training Corp, the Combined Cadet Force from Belfast, an Outward Bound Centre from Belfast, the Newcastle Venture Scouts, and Woodbridge School from Ipswich. The groups were judged on their preperation, an orienteering exercise, compass making, water collection, shelter making, traps and snares, fire lighting and general resourcefulness. The group (aka the Little Green Frogs) worked extremely well together and kept their morale up in extremely adverse conditions. St. Clares finished in 5th place beating Woodbridge School. The most pleasing aspect of the weekend was the fantastic interaction of all the teams pulling together.
