Questions
Questions and Answers

When should I arrive for my course?

  • Arrival Day is Saturday and rooms are available from 1400 hrs.

What happens on the first Sunday of the course?

  • 16+ students attend an orientation programme of St. Clare's, the local area and Oxford City.

When do I start my course?

  • You start your course at 0900 hrs on Monday with a placement test.

When does my course finish?

  • The last teaching day is the final Thursday of your course; the day before you depart.

When do I have to leave at the end of my course at St. Clare's?

  • You leave on Friday and we ask you to vacate your room by 1000 hrs.

Is insurance included in the course fees?

  • All course fees include travel insurance ie. travel, medical and personal possessions cover. Policy details will be sent with the joining documents.

Are airport transfers included in the course fees?

Are there any course rules?

  • Details of rules for the courses will be sent to you in your joining documents. There are not many, but they relate to behaving in a way that accords common courtesy to everyone around you, observance of the night-time curfew relevant to your age group and any local laws that apply (eg. drinking alcohol, misuse of drugs etc.).
  • We reserve the right to expel any student whose behaviour we deem to be unacceptable. In this unlikely event fees will be forfeited and all travel and ancillary costs borne by the student/parent.

How many excursions can I go on during my course?

  • 16+ students have one excursion per week included in the course fees but may select as many additional excursions as they wish to from the activities programme, for which a local fee will be charged.

How much spending money will I need to bring with me?

  • 16+ students: we recommend £70 for additional activities/excursions, souvenirs, etc. plus a £30 key/damage deposit which is refundable at the end of the course on return of key/no damage caused.

Who looks after me in my house/residence?

  • 16+ students stay in houses where there is a residential warden who lives there all the time.

Can I share a bedroom with my friend?

  • It is part of St. Clare's mission to promote international understanding through education. Boys and girls are accommodated separately, sharing rooms with similar aged students and as far as possible of a different nationality. It is more likely that you could be in the same house as your friend, but not usually the same room.

What about laundry?

  • 16+ students can use the on-site coin-operated washing machines for a small charge.
