On Saturday, St. Clare's FC defeated D'Overbroecks college (2-1) for the first time in three years in a thrilling encounter. This was a fantastic display by the St. Clare's team who showed skill, concentration and a tough mental side to their game.

The game was ten minutes old when Anwar Kange scored his second goal in as many matches. D'Overbroecks pushed hard towards the end of the half. However their efforts left gaps in their defence and Christiaan Rijnhout slotted home after some good work by Hai Huang and Kilian Huber in defence. St. Clare's did not pack the defence in the second half but played an attractive passing game. It was pleasing to see players holding the ball and supporting each other. D'Overbroecks did get a goal back towards the end of the game.

This was St. Clare's toughest test to date and the team responded in a fantastic manner. The team manager, Kevin Hennessy, was pleased with the team's level of fitness and stamina.

It was difficult to single out one player for an award. Kilian Huber and Vincent Graw played very well. Ian Lee played his first full match after injury. Anwar Kange ran his heart out on the right wing and Jedrzej Kasztelan and Giovanni Cravetto were as industrious as ever. It was decided to present the Man of the Match award to Hai Huang for his positioning, tackling and distribution. Thanks to Kevin Ryce for refereeing on the day.
