St. Clare's Home

At the end of last term the St.Clare's football team travelled to Cowley to play King's College. This school has a big squad of players that would need to be battled with to be beat. With two new players on the team, Tillmann Dietrich and Woon Hyung Lee, St.Clare's looked like they had the advantage, but King's put up a good fight in the first half. They had a few good chances breaking through the defence easily at times. Their poor shooting didn't trouble Ben Hanbury-Aggs too much, but he had to make more saves than we had anticipated. However, Nick Hayes and Anwar Kange upfront were having an even easier time at the other end, and after missing a few long range shots they managed to gain 3 goals each.

King's played more aggressively in the second half making some good moves in the middle and strengthening their defence, but St. Clare's played well and Ben Tollington and Anwar Kange made some good balls from the wings to help Leonid Druzhinin and Jedrzej Kasztelan secure the 9-4 win for St.Clare's. Overall it was a well deserved win with the team celebrating their win on the taxi ride home. Tillmann Dietrich received the man of the match award for his outstanding ability shown in his first game. Ben Hanbury-Aggs is improving every week in goal, and the team have improved their fitness a lot since the start of the season, as was shown in this substantial victory.
