Accommodation

  • St. Clare's welcomes day students living at home, although most are residential in College houses.
  • There are fifteen College houses for pre-university students. Formerly family houses, they accommodate between 7 and 25 students, mostly 15-20.
  • Each house has its own welcoming atmosphere.
  • All houses are very close to the central campus.
  • Separate houses for male and female students.
  • Each house has a resident warden responsible for the welfare and care of students, and for maintaining house rules.
  • Weekly and fully residential arrangements are available.
  • House rules differ slightly for students, by age.
  • Two houses (the Woodstock houses) are designated for younger students (15-16 years old). The wardens arrange a special programme of house activities and provide a greater degree of supervision.
  • Most rooms are twin rooms with some singles, usually for second year IB Diploma students.
  • Meals are provided in the dining room or the Sugar House café.
  • Accommodation available during half term breaks, by arrangement.

Welfare

  • Each student has a Personal Tutor who has particular responsibility for oversight of welfare and progress.
  • Students have an individual weekly meeting with Personal Tutors.
  • Programme of personal, social, and health education.
  • Welfare team includes Assistant Principal, Dean of Students, Wardens, and Student Services Officer.
  • Favourable teacher : student ratio. All teachers are involved in student welfare.
  • Termly reports to parents.
  • Parents' meetings scheduled, and by arrangement. E-mail has proved very useful for regular communication.
