Helping in the community

St. Clare's was on hand to assist a local charity in their efforts to raise funds for the Grieving Parents' Support Group, part of the Matthew Roberts Memorial Fund, and based in Oxford. It provides a helpline dedicated to supporting grieving parents after the death of a child.
Mark Roberts (a trustee of the fund) introduced the students to the work of the organisation and explained why the organisation needed to raise funds.
Kevin Hennessy coordinated groups of volunteers who distributed information leaflets to residences in North Oxford.
All students on the IB course have to take part in the CAS programme as part of their Diploma. CAS - Creativity, Action, Service. The CAS requirement is a fundamental part of the programme and takes seriously the importance of life outside the world of scholarship. Service encompasses a host of community and social service activities. Some examples include helping children with special needs, visiting hospitals and working with refugees or homeless people.
The fundraising project with the Matthew Roberts Memorial Fund illustrates some of the work St. Clare's undertakes as part of the CAS programme.
