St. Clare's Girl's football team compete in the Independent Schools National Six-a-side Tournament
The Third Independent Schools National Girl's Football Six-a-side competition, sponsored by Blue Chip Events, saw Kings High School for Girls at Warwick host an exciting tournament fought out by schools from various parts of the country, in four age groups.
St. Clare's team played four matches against Repton School from Derbyshire, Wellingborough School from Northamptonshire, Wycombe Abbey from Buckinghamshire and Millfield School from Somerset.
In the first match the girls were defeated 3-0 by the eventual finalists, Repton School.  In match two, the squad played so much better and was unlucky not to record a victory against Wellingborough.  The match ended 0-0.  The third match was played at an extremely fast pace and the eventual competition winners, Millfield School, defeated St. Clare's 1-0.
In the final match of the afternoon, we were up against our neighbours, Wycombe Abbey school. Again the team was strong in defence but lacked the finishing touch in the final third of the field.  The match ended 0-0.
The final went into extra time where Millfield School from Somerset became Senior National Champions as they won 2-1 over a battling Repton School from Derbyshire team.
Kevin Hennessy and Kevin Ryce have been working with the squad since September 2006.
