Teacher of mathematics - short summer contract

Background to the post

St Clare's Oxford is looking to appoint an experienced teacher of IB mathematics to take part in its IB Diploma summer course. Although not essential, experience of teaching Higher level mathematics will be a distinct advantage.

Job description

The person appointed will:

  • be available to teach from 08.30 until 16.00 each week day
  • teach up to 24 hours of IB Diploma mathematics as part of both the IB review and IB introduction courses to run during the week 21 – 25 July 2008
  • prepare teaching materials appropriate for the aptitude of the students
  • attend the staff meeting held at the beginning of the teaching week
  • towards the end of the week's teaching, prepare a written short report on the ability shown, progress shown and effort made by each of the students
  • report directly to the Director of IB summer courses

Pay

The teacher will be paid an hourly rate of £31.70 for the agreed hours (up to 24 hours). Hours will be agreed by negotiation with the course director.
