CAS trip to Wales

The Activities Department, in conjunction with the Woodlands Outdoor Education centre in Glasbury on Wye, Wales offered a week long programme of outdoor activities. IB students have to complete a comprehensive programme of actitvities as part of the Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) element of the IB Diploma.

Students participated in the following activities:

Sunday - high wire assault
Monday - gorge walking, rock climbing, abseiling, night time walk
Tuesday - kayaking, caving and problem solving
Wednesday - mountain walk and orienteering
Thursday - high rope challenge and shelter building
Friday - pony trekking
Saturday - Brecon National Park conservation day.

The programme focussed on four areas of personal development

  • self awareness
  • interaction with others
  • communication
  • responsibility
The seventeen students who took part were from Azerbaijan, China, Canada, Germany, Norway, Russia and the UK.
