Easter and Summer courses - IB teachers

Job Description

Teachers are appointed to a range of courses which take place over a 6 week period in the summer: from the last week of June to the middle of August. Courses are between 3 days and 1 week in duration and take place on the Banbury Road campus.

Teachers are expected to teach IB subjects as agreed, and thereby make a contribution to the overall aim of each course. They report to the IB Course Director for contractual and for academic matters. Teachers are also encouraged to get involved in the full social life of the College.

Teacher profile

Experienced IB subject teachers, with appropriate professional qualifications. Experience as an examiner is viewed as desirable.

Academic Programme

  • Summer IB Introduction Course. This course is a three week course for students about to start their IB Diploma.
  • Summer IB Review Course. A series of week-long single subject courses for students between the first and second years of their IB programmes.
During the summer most teachers will work on both the IB Introduction and the IB Review courses.

Duties

  • Teaching Subjects as agreed:
    Summer IB Introduction Course - 10 hours per week
    Summer IB Review Course – 14 hours per week
  • Course Induction - attending an induction meeting with the Course Director prior to appointment commencing, for briefing and orientation on course outline, timetable, on-site materials and facilities, general administration and student expectations.
  • Attending staff meetings each week as directed by the Course Director.
  • Incorporating one study visit into the teaching hours of each main course.
  • Completing an end of course report for every student in the class.
  • Attending a leaving and prize-giving ceremony when required.
  • Attending activities specific to course content e.g. theatre visits for English courses.

Teaching hours

Summer courses - up to 24 hours per week (~10 hours introduction course, ~ 14 hours Review course)

Rates of pay

£32.55 per hour inclusive of £3.93 holiday pay.

* Lunch is provided in the college on weekdays.
