Background
The campus at Rye St. Antony has operated as the Junior Centre for St. Clare's students over the last 10 years. The programme includes teaching, on-site activities, day excursions and the opportunity to live together in an international community. It is the complete language learning experience in a safe, secure location close to the main school and Oxford city centre. The two courses, from 5 July to 25 July and 26 July to 15 August, are always popular with students and staff alike. However, the summer school is demanding and teachers will be expected to make a full contribution to the pastoral and social life of the youngsters. Teachers will be appointed and trained by the Director of Studies at St. Clare's but, for day to day matters, report to the Course Director, the Activity Director or the Senior Teacher on site. The main focus of the teacher on the Junior Campus is to create a stimulating learning environment in the classroom and to monitor the language acquisition of each student. However, the success of the programme as a whole requires teachers to become actively involved in leading a number of activities and excursions as well as contributing to supervision rotas. Teachers should have the following qualifications and qualities:- outgoing personality and enthusiasm for teaching and working with younger teenagers
- TEFL qualifications (preferably DELTA or equivalent; or CELTA with two years' experience)
- CRB enhanced clearance (or equivalent EU Certificate of Good Conduct)
- PGCE or equivalent is an advantage

Duties and responsibilities
- Understanding the ethos and objectives of the college through attendance at the induction sessions on the Saturday prior to course-start date and familiarisation with documentation regarding working practices, health and safety, child protection etc.
- Preparing lessons in line with the objectives of the course and syllabus framework devised by St. Clare's. Incorporating a variety of teaching techniques appropriate to the learning experience and age of the students in each class.
- Monitoring the progress of students in class, reporting lateness, absence or ill-discipline promptly, setting and marking homework and testing from time to time.
- Completing online course reports and certificates for each student in the ‘lead' group and participating in the Leaving Ceremonies as required.
- Assisting with the welcome (at the airport or on-site), placement testing and student orientation on the first two days of each course; and the departure procedures as required.
- Attending staff meetings each morning to share information about individual students and planned activities and events.
- Leading up to three activity sessions and one excursion per week or at weekends.
- Contributing to the observance of positive student behaviour: through formal rotas (for bedtimes, mealtime supervision etc.); or through informal vigilance in and around the campus at all times.
Rates of pay
a) Grade 1: Initiated EFL teachers (RSA/UCLES CELTA or equivalent): £369.54 per week inclusive of holiday pay at 10.769% b) Grade 2: Qualified EFL teachers (MA TEFL; DELTA; Dip/PGCE TEFL/TESOL): £430.54 per week inclusive of holiday pay at 10.769%.How to apply
