Entry requirements for the University Foundation Course

Entry requirements

There are two entry points - one in September and one in October / November each year. Students wishing to enrol on our University Foundation Course should:
  • have completed High School in their own country;
  • be 17 years or over;
  • have a knowledge of English at or above the following:
    • IELTS score 5.0 or equivalent for entry in September;
    • Equivalent = TOEFL iBT (internet-based test) 60+
    • IELTS score 5.5 or equivalent for entry in November.
    • Equivalent = TOEFL iBT (internet-based test) 70+

The application process

  1. You need to complete this registration form and send it to us by post or fax (+44 1865 553751)
  2. Include with the form the £100 registration fee.
  3. You also need to supply St. Clare's with your High School ‘leaving certificate' and transcripts outlining all the subjects you have studied and the grades awarded.
  4. We will then send you an English Language test to complete and return.
  5. There will be an initial interview, either in person or by telephone with the Director of Studies, to assess your level of English and to advise on the best programme for you.
