English and Art for our Kanagawa students
St. Clare's welcomed a group of 34 students from
Kanagawa University High School in Japan for the ninth consecutive year.
The students were part of an English plus Art programme which takes in Paris and Rome as well as Oxford. Whilst here they
had a series of study visits and art classes in the afternoons with English language lessons in the mornings.

St. Clare's has a well appointed and impressive art studio and the students were able to immerse themselves in their art project
		creating medieval-style panels.

In his thank you speech at the end of the programme, one of the students, Nakakuki Satoru, spoke about his experiences in Oxford.
One highlight was his stay in an English family where he had met a Chinese student. Apparently they discussed the history of
troubled relations between their two countries and their joint hopes for a peaceful future. He ended with the words:

'If there were a door to open the world, English would be the key!'.
