Main purpose of the role
To manage and motivate the team on the St. Clare's summer courses on the Banbury Road campus to deliver an activity programme which truly engages the teenage ‘clients' both on- and off-site.Duties and responsibilities
- Takes responsibility for successful delivery of the pre-arranged Activity Programme when the Activity Director is not on site: motivating, supporting and encouraging both staff and students as necessary.
- Understands the ethos and objectives of the college, accepting fully the responsibilities associated with ‘safeguarding', health & safety reports and working practices.
- Inducts new members to the team of Activity Organisers, in accordance with the Handbook, regarding student expectations, resources, facilities, office procedures, outside suppliers, and venues. (The Induction Checklist also covers: tour of the site, staff rota, ID cards, office keys, t-shirts, accommodation where applicable.)
- Participates in orientation and welcome meetings for students at the start of the each course and in prize-giving ceremonies at the end.
- Prepares the events and activities in advance: arts and craft sessions; sports training and competitions; dance, film and drama; quizzes, games, discos and karaoke events; cultural visits and excursions according to interests and expertise.
- Plans the scheduled excursions in detail: training staff in the procedures for excursions (preparations, ‘float', on the coach, at the venue, emergencies, feedback etc.).
- Prepares and distributes the staff rota one week in advance, taking staff request into consideration whenever possible.
- Co-ordinates the office duties: collating lists for ‘free' excursions, collecting payments for additional trips, overseeing the loan of equipment, advertising upcoming events, making displays etc.
- Takes responsibility for student welfare, in liaison with the Dean of Students: completing ‘risk assessments', monitoring student behaviour, encouraging integration, accompanying students to hospital or doctor's surgery etc.
- Monitors satisfaction levels amongst the students through observation and analysis of feedback questionnaires: reports concerns about staff, students or venues as appropriate
- Represents the best interests of the college in all dealings with staff, visiting agents, parents, group leaders and students.
- Performs other duties as required to ensure a positive experience for the student.
Summer Assistant Activity Director: profile
This is a key leadership role throughout the summer months. You must be enthusiastic, reliable and flexible, having the students' best interests in mind at all times.- Requirements: an interest in working with teenagers from across the world a strong presence with proven experience of managing and motivating a team
- Desirable skills: a current first aid certificate, lifeguard qualification a relevant nationally-recognised sports qualification driving licence for mini-bus driving

Summer Assistant Activity Director: Terms and Conditions
You report to the Director of English Language Courses for contractual matters and the Activity Director on site for specific day-to-day duties.- 9 week contract, starting 20 June and ending 21 August .
- Orientation and induction takes place prior to course start-date and attendance is required from 16 June.
- You will be required to work flexible shifts (afternoons, evenings and weekends) over a 6 day week according to the rota and in consultation with the Activity Director. You will have one day off per week which is unlikely to be at the weekend.
