Raising money for worthwhile charities
A recent sale of used Theory of Knowledge textbooks by our second year IB students has raised
£110 for charity. The money will go half to the
Oxfam fund for Haiti earthquake relief and
half to
CAMFED, a charity that works to improve female education in Africa. A group of first year
students have recently given a presentation about the work of CAMFED to their year group and have
also shown a film open to everyone in the St. Clare's community.
Events such as these are very important as they give students the opportunity to take initiative
and experience leadership roles. They also reflect the international nature of so many of the CAS
activities at St. Clare's such as raising funds for international and local
charities, working in partnered schools in
Ghana, International Affairs
and International Perspectives.
CAS (Creativity, Action and Service) is such an important part of the IB, one which not only makes
the IB distinctive but also results in a rich student experience in comparison to an A level
programme.
