HRH the Prince of Wales lecture in Oxford
Each year we welcome students from
Salve Regina University,
(one of St. Clare's Partner institutions in the US) as part of our Study Abroad programme.
Contributing to their Salve Regina Univesity degree classes, these students follow a mixture of
Literature, Philosophy, Social Sciences and Religious Studies courses given by St. Clare's lecturers.
This summer students from Salve Regina joined St. Clare's students studying on our Advanced English courses
and University Foundation Course to attend
a lecture give by HRH the Prince of Wales.
The Prince delivered the speech on the subject of Islam and the Environment at the
Sheldonian
Theatre to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the
Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies,
of which he is a Patron.
As well as our 28 Salve Regina students, others lecturers and teachers attending included Dr Stephen Trainor (Salve),
Dr Khalil Habib (Salve), Diane Horsman (St. Clare's English teacher) and Anna Castriota (St. Clare's Foundation,
Liberal Arts and Advanced English teacher). Our lecturer on Hindu studies, Professor Gavin Flood, also
went with his Salve students on his Eastern Religions course.
Contributing to their Global Issues class St. Clare's students included Manuel de Cueto (English student),
Ka Young Kim, (English Student), Felix van Camp, (Advanced English student), Marguerite Terwindt (Advanced English student),
Colombine Koechline (Advanced English student) and Thibault Verstraete (Advanced English student).
This lecture, on a glorious summer evening given in the stunning setting of the Sheldonian Theatre
designed by
Sir Christopher Wren, offered a nice cultural experience for our American visitorss, as well an academic
tutorial for our students.
