College news - new residence

New house for St. Clare's

In its drive to improve the quality of residential accommodation, the College has bought a large Victorian house at 127, Banbury Road, right next door to the main campus. The house holds 24 students plus warden and features many energy efficient measures – rain water is harvested, the house has been super-insulated and the lights are motion-sensitive so that electricity is not wasted. In addition to these practical measures, the residence consists of single bedrooms plus double and triple rooms each with their own bathroom.

As part of the redevelopment, a beautiful stain-glass window, over 5 metres high, has been restored to its original condition and many original features reinstated. Feedback from the boys who live in 127 is very positive and we plan to incorporate many of the features of our new house into future developments.
