Seminar Series - ‘Why we hate crying babies on planes (and other curiosities about kiddos)'

Jay Phoenix Singh (Oxford University Department of Psychiatry) talks about the adult's psychological relationship with children and how this is conditioned by both evolutionary factors and socially appropriate behaviour.

Questions explored include: why do the cutest babies have perfectly proportioned faces? Are certain human emotions universal and how do children recognise them? Why are babies smiling all the time? Why do adults get so stressed by babies crying on planes?
