Classical music success

Mathias Butul is a first year IB student who is doing Music as an IB subject. He is percussionist and a classical guitar player. I suggested that he apply to join Central Music School in Oxford which meets every Saturday and where he would have the opportunity to be in the percussion section of the training orchestra.

When he was auditioned he was put into the county youth orchestra instead of the training orchestra! He is loving every minute of it and doesn't mind giving up his Saturday mornings for this.

In the percussion section they have to be able to play timpani, marimba, tubular bells etc. Mathias is very capable of all this as well as reading the music at this top level.

Early days yet but he has expressed an interest in Trinity College of Music in London.
