Seeing Saturn
Students studying Astronomy will try to do some astrophotography in the upcoming
academic year. The plan is to try to take photos of interesting objects by connecting
a digital SLR camera to the telescope. The photo of Saturn below was achieved using a
camcorder looking through the eyepiece. Saturn is roughly 10 AU (astronimcal units - earth
sun average distance) from the sun so it is dimmer than quite a few stars.
We look forward to working more on this method and improving the images.
