St. Clare's 105, D'Overbroecks 21
Coach Franky Marulanda reports on the Boys' Basketball team amazing sequence of victories in the Oxfordshire Schools' league. After a successful game against Lord Williams the day before St. Clare's defensive strategy was deemed to remain the same. Tough and aggressive full court press using a 2-2-1 formation, depending on how D'Overbroecks react the press would stay on or change. However, St. Clare's went on a 16-0 rampage within the first 5 minutes of the game. The press was working a treat and St. Clare's were scoring at will, whereas D'Overbroecks struggled to take a shot. The first quarter ended 25-3. The key to continuing to use the press was the recovery time and speed required by each player if they were beaten by a pass or off the dribble and all St. Clare's players executed perfectly. The lead increased by the half time to 48-11. The third quarter showed consistency from St. Clare's as they went up 74-18 thanks to Emilis forth 3 pointer of the game. In the fourth quarter Coach Marulanda tried a different press, using the unusual 1-1-2-1 press, which gave St. Clare's the amazing 105-21 victory they so deserved and probably a school scoring record! The team on duty was;Michal Wisniewski; (Captain), Rokas Augunas; Emilis Romaskevicius; Nikola Vucicevic; Amir Amangeldi, Ian Cruz, Fidence Moreno, Brett McCreary. Game MVP: #17 Emilis: 21 pts
