Unsung hero on the basketball court

Congratulations to our Basketball Coach, Franky Marulanda who recently collected an award at the BBC Oxfordshire Sports Awards. Franky won the “Unsung Hero” award for his time, effort and expertise in developing young players at the Oxford Hoops Basketball club.

It was ten years ago that St. Clare's approached the Oxford Hoops basketball to assist with coaching the school teams. Peter Egawhary who is the current Oxford Hoops Basketball club chairman coached in the school for a number years along with Eugene Brown.

Franky Marulanda who is the Head Coach at Oxford Hoops took over coaching duties at St. Clare's in September 2010 and guided the Under 19 Girls' basketball team to the Oxfordshire Schools County Final in May 2011. Already this season the Under 19 Boys' basketball team are undefeated with victories over Cherwell School, Lord William's, Thame and D'Overbroecks College.
