St. Clare's 1 - Oxford Spires Academy - 0

The boys' football team defeated Oxford Spires Academy 1 – 0 in Round two of the Oxfordshire Schools league. The team responded so positively to the previous 4 – 1 defeat to Woodgreen on November 3. The training sessions have concentrated on fitness and tactical play. This work culminated in a deserved victory. Team Captain Ridi Kotja took control of the pre-match warm up and all the players worked hard to compete as a team. In the first half, Niklas Rehm, Remigiusz Manko, Milivoje Sestovic all and Daniel Galalae all came close to scoring a goal. Oxford Spires did finish the first half stronger, but St. Clare's defensive play has really improved in the past three weeks. The score remained 0 – 0 until the 80th minute when Lucca Recinella Jordao de Magalhaes scored for the home team.

The most pleasing aspect of the victory is that it was a team performance. The back five were solid and selective in their passing. There were one or two small errors. The midfield now understands what they do without the ball is just as important as what they do with the ball. Remigiusz Manko continues to cause the opposition defence so many problems.

The team on duty was;
Chung Yin (Nicolas) Fan; Federico Pileri; Shi Yang Zhang; Arved Pohlabeln; Ridi Kotja; (Captain) Daniel Galalae; Niklas Rehm; Milivoje Sestovic; Marco Ferrari; Lucca Recinella Jordao de Magalhaes; Remigiusz Manko.

Replacements: Rezo Makalatiya; Alberto De Angelis; Arjaldo Karaj.
