ACS Cobham - 11 St. Clare's - 0

The girls' football team were defeated 11 – 0 in the first round of the Independent Schools Cup by ACS Cobham. The back five of Riikka Avotie; Helen Schlemminger; Manuela Sanchiz , (replaced by Gabriela Berthier de Almeida Tedesco), Anna Nagel and Sarah Burlein had a busy afternoon dealing with the pace of the Cobham forward line. In midfield, Hannah Woodfield (Captain), Kristin Doneva, Emma Louise Kollien Gjerde and Madeleine de Brouchoven de Bergeyck, (replaced by Ieva Matulaityte) tried to play some passes together but just could not cope with the quality and speed of passing of the opposition. Giulia Merla and Sara Halkiopoulos also worked tirelessly. A pleasing aspect was that the girls played their best right until the final whistle.
