Basketball Team defeat neighbours Cherwell School

Finally the moment we have all been waiting for, it was crunch time for St. Clare's Boys' Basketball Team, it was their first game in the Oxfordshire Schools' league. The 2011-12 Team has 2 experienced players from last season Michal Wisniewski and Emilis Romaskevicius as well as 3 very talented guards Brett McCreary, Ian Cruz, Fidence Moreno and a group of talented and smart players willing to learn and play hard.

The opposition Cherwell School is a well drilled team with amazing speed, 3-point shooting ability and good defensive spirit, some of them, although quite young are fairly experienced.

The game started with St. Clare's scoring the first 6 points with relative ease, and as the game progressed Cherwell would get a bit closer from time to time and St. Clare's would pull away again. There were clear scoring waves for both teams, at one point St. Clare's was up by 15 points, but Cherwell chipped away at that lead as St. Clare's key players rested. Cherwell even took the lead by 3 points with 3 minutes left to play. St. Clare's ran 2 specific plays to go up by 1 point and then pressed Cherwell full court for the remaining 2 minutes to win the game 75-67.

St Clare's showed discipline and resilience throughout the game, although their level of execution could have been better, it was still a great performance.
