St Clare's Debating

Two St Clare's debating teams (Keisi Hysa, Mariana Baguenier, Rufus Lunn and Haakon Fougner) took part in the regional heats of the Oxford Schools Debating Competition at Abingdon school.

The event is run by Oxford University and the judges are drawn from the star speakers at the Oxford Union. Competitors have only 15 minutes to compose speeches on controversial topics and then defend their position in public. Our students were in excellent form, were warmly praised by the judges and fellow competitors and must consider themselves very unlucky not to have gone through to the final.
