These are just a few of the questions parents and students have asked
in the past. I hope you will find the answers here - if not do not hesitate
to call us.
When should I arrive for my course?
All courses start on Sundays and rooms are available from 1400.
What happens on the first Sunday of the course?
We welcome you at reception and show you to your room. There is a welcome event for you in the evening.
Join in the activities on site!
When do I start my course?
You start your course at 0900 hrs on Monday. You will be welcomed by the Director of English
Language Courses and the Dean of Students. You will then take a placement test. Later the
orientation continues with a tour of the College. You will be put into your groups on Tuesday
morning.
When does my course finish?
The last teaching day is the final Friday of your course; the day before you depart.
When do I have to leave at the end of my course at St. Clare's?
You leave on Saturday and we ask you to vacate your room by 1000 hrs in the morning.
Fees for courses for Teenagers (15-17 years) include:
- Residential accommodation in double or triple rooms (homestay also available for the
same price)
- Full board - 3 meals per day (breakfast, lunch and dinner)
- English language classes
- Teaching materials including a student folder
- Certificate of attendance and academic report
- Bed linen and towels
- One excursion per week including entrance fees
- Full programme of social, cultural and sporting activities in the afternoons and evenings
- Travel and medical insurance
Not included in the fees:
- Airport transfers
- Key / damage deposit of £30 (payable on arrival; refundable at the end of stay)
- Express courier fees £25 (if required for visa documents)
Is insurance covered in the course fees?
The course fees include travel insurance cover with an independent insurance company organised by St. Clare's brokers.
These are the full details of the
Travel Insurance Policy.
If you need to make any claims on the policy you must contact the insurance company yourself. However we strongly
recommend that you take out your own insurance in the case of lost or stolen belongings.
Are the airport transfers included in the course fees?
If you would like a taxi service to and from St. Clare's from the airport, you need to book this at least three weeks
before your course starts. These are our
airport transfer charges. We can collect
from any local airport.
Are there any course rules?
There are both house rules and college rules. We expect students to behave with politeness to everyone around you,
observe the curfew and laws that apply to use of alcohol or drugs. We reserve the right to expel any student
whose behaviour we find unacceptable. In this unlikely event the student / parent will bear any additional costs.
How much spending money should I bring ?
We recommend £70 for additional activities or souvenirs, etc. We also ask for a £30 key / damage deposit which is
refunded at the end of the course on return of the key and after checking for damage.
Who looks after me in my house/ residence?
Each house is supervised by a residential warden.
Can I share a bedroom with my friend?
It is part of St.Clare's mission to promote international understanding through education. Every effort is made to integrate
students from different nationalities. You can, therefore, request the same house as a friend, but not the same room.
What about laundry?
Students can use the on-site card-operated washing machines for a small charge.
