Student Council Elections 2012

In what proved to be a thrilling and enthusiastic hour this afternoon, nine of our first year IB students took to the stage as contenders for St. Clare's President and Vice Presidents of Student Council.

After a week of campaigning, the very strong candidates, Josh Hammond, Niall Evans, Ali Dzhaber, Manfredi Patti, Elias Benussi, Kirill Markov, Keidi Kapllani, Roman Chaika and Marta Waliszak, each stood up and delivered a three-minute speech on why they should be voted in as President or Vice President.

As President of Student Council, the winner of this election will be responsible for leading the Student Council, representing the views of students, organising social events and fundraising for charity.

All the students spoke passionately about why they thought they would make a good President. Keidi said: “It's about knowing the problems but then it's about fixing these problems”, whilst Marta claimed: “I'm not afraid to make decisions and I'm ready to take responsibility”. Roman said: “I didn't know St. Clare's would become such a big part of me”.

Each student was allowed to put one vote into the ballot box after all candidates had performed their speech, and the election monitors (last year's Student Council Officers) are set to count them. The winner will be announced at the Christmas Ball.
