St. Clare's welcomes new students

New students at our International College of Further Education on Bardwell Road have officially joined the St. Clare's family after a celebratory Formal Dinner at the prestigious Pembroke College in Oxford.

More than 100 students and staff from 24 countries gathered together for the welcoming, which was a great opportunity for the new students to meet each other, to make new friends and hear about the history of both St. Clare's and Pembroke College.

Formal Dinner is one of Oxford's oldest traditions and Pembroke College, whose former staff include J.R.R. Tolkien and Roger Bannister, provided a beautiful setting for the evening.

Lawrie Coupland, Director of English Language Studies at St. Clare's, Oxford, said: “Today, in this hall, we have representatives from 24 different countries. This is an incredible opportunity for integration: to learn about each other, other members of your new family - to get beneath national stereotypes - to see the real people”.
