Our second-year IB Chemistry
students have just completed a successful and extremely busy revision
weekend.
All 25 chemists, Standard Level and Higher Level, started their first past
paper on Friday then on Saturday morning they went to Yarnton Village Hall,
Oxfordshire, where they spent the next eight hours doing exam papers, marking
them, asking questions, and then doing more exam papers, supervised by their
teachers, Ian Gill and Matt Dolan.
Lunch was a buffet at Ian's house, who lives nearby, before everyone
returned to the Village Hall for more past papers.
To help break up the day they went for a short walk
around the village as when doing revision you still need fresh air and exercise.
Yarnton has 5,000 years of history; they even walked down the lane used by the
King and his troops during the Civil War. After some more past papers back at
the Village Hall, they finished of a successful revision weekend with a
well-deserved evening meal at The Turnpike Inn, before returning to St.
Clare's.
Ian Gill , Head of Chemistry,
said: "Doing Chemistry for eight hours is not everyone's idea of a fun
Saturday, but we did have fun and learnt a lot in preparation for the final
exam. The students were incredibly good-natured and good humoured. We look
forward to a string of 7's in May."
