This week’s cross college theme is National Identity. As it
is St. George’s Day, we wanted to do something typically English so came up with
the idea of a tea party with a difference.
In the afternoon, ten students took up the opportunity to
learn how scones are made and then had a go themselves. Trude, our fabulous
chef, showed the students the method step by step , and then after rolling out
the dough, the group cut out the scones and prepared them for the oven.
While they were baking, everyone prepared a scone to eat with
different toppings. Cream, jam and fresh strawberries were the most popular
choices.
After classes, we had the tea party in the dining room with
sandwiches, cakes, biscuits and most importantly those scones.
Students and staff from every department were there to enjoy
the occasion.
A lovely way to celebrate English culture.
