A Trip to Northern Ireland

A group of our IB students had a fantastic trip to sunny Northern Ireland last weekend. They arrived in Belfast on Thursday evening and stopped to enjoy a pizza dinner together. It was an early start the following morning as the students headed out to explore the North Antrim Coast, visiting the Giants Causeway and Dunluce Castle.

Whilst they were there, the group convinced their mini-bus driver to take them to the filming locations for the hit television series Game of Thrones; Ballintoy Harbour and Dark Hedges. They then arrived back to Belfast in time for a bit of shopping, followed by dinner and dancing.

On Saturday, the group drove to Derry and visited the Tour Museum to gain a historical understanding of the city. After lunch they toured the Nationalist Murals and the Unionist Murals, and heard about the events surrounding Bloody Sunday.

It was another busy day on Sunday with a trip to the Titanic Belfast Visitor attraction and a tour of both the Nationalist murals on the Falls Road and the Loyalist murals on the Shankill road. Overall, an excellent trip enjoyed by all.
