St. Clare's Donates to Schools in Sierra Leone

Last Autumn, St. Clare's, Oxford organised a collection of items to donate to schools in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Organised by Chemistry Teacher Ian Gill, the College donated several laptops, around 30 mobile phones, 3 data-projectors, clothes, text books, some mirrors (for physics) and simple science equipment.

Principal Paula Holloway arranged for the freight cost for the equipment pictured below:

St. Clare's Chemistry Teacher Ian Gill, Facilities Controller Anne Jeffs and Josh White from the ICT Department, pictured below, organised the collection of the equipment:

We were delighted to receive some photographs from Freetown to show that the freight had arrived safely - these can be viewed on the Christian Community Church Mission (C3MSL) website.

Organiser Ian Gill has asked for some of the items to be distributed in Kono, in the East of the country too. The cause is particularly close to Ian's heart as he has visited several schools and churches in the Kono area during the Summer and in previous years. Ian has videos of his teaching in Sierra Leone available to view on Youtube - click here to take a look

St. Clare's are planning to donate another box of items this year. This time, we will be collecting items from the activities department, including footballs, sports shoes and other sporting equipment.
