Israel Trip - 2014

Recently, our IB World Politics and History students enjoyed six days exploring the political, social and economic aspects of life in Israel. The group began their trip with three nights in Jerusalem.

On the first day they set off to the Old City and to see the symbol of Israel, the Menorah. After a busy day, the students enjoyed dinner at the Jerusalem Tower. The following morning, they visited Yad-Vashem, which is the museum commemorating the memory of the six million jews killed during the Holocaust. After lunch, the group went to Bethlehem, stopping at the Manger Square and University where they met with students and lecturers.

It was an early start the following morning at the group travelled to Masada; the ancient fortress built by King Herod and the last stronghold of the Jewish zealots against the Romans. After stopping for lunch in Masada, the students had the opportunity to swim in the therapeutic waters of the Dead Sea.

The group then travelled to the South Galilee region, where they stayed in a Kibbutz country lodge. Highlights here included a trip to the Golan Heights and a lecture on the political situation in the area. Finally, they visited Tel Aviv and the Independence Museum there, before heading back home.

All of our students thoroughly enjoyed their trip and more photos can be found here on our Facebook page.
