CAS Orienteering Activity

IB students orienteering in Oxford

A group of our IB students recently participated in an orienteering activity as part of their CAS programme. Jemima Goodall, Leah Grunewald, Ohihonma Omo-Eboh, Anna Kupriyanova and Polina Demushkina enjoyed a morning orienteering at Shotover park in Oxford.

Orienteering in Oxford's woods

Orienteering is an exciting outdoor adventure sport, which involves walking or running whilst navigating around a course using a detailed map. The aim is to navigate in sequence between a set of control points and decide the best route to complete the course in the quickest time.

It’s a great sport for runners, joggers and walkers who want to improve their navigation skills or for anyone who loves the outdoors. The group were instructed on an easy 20 minute route which involved three control points. Teams were then created for the actual competition route which involved six control points. All of the students who attended thoroughly enjoyed the trip.
