The annual Staff v Student football match took place at Oxford City Football Club on Thursday April 24 2014. The match ended in a hard fought 3 -1 victory for the IB14 students. Andrew Young, the staff team Manager, took on board the lessons learnt from the previous four years as Staff team manager and played a 1-9-1 team formation.
The Student team adopted the European style management model of a Director of Football, Charles-Antoine Lassonnery and a Head Coach, Christopher van den Heuvel.
David Zakarian, (staff team goal keeper), looked the part in the 6 a side goal.
Daniel Boyes, George Speller, Ulf Vonderosten, Stephen Marshall and Dave Holman worked very hard in defence and kept the students scoreless until the 80th minute. Daniele Schmidt-Fischer and Jan Phan scored the late goals for the students. Steve Marshall scored the staff goal.
Joshua White and Clifford Culbert playing wide in the midfield area, gave the team plenty of width. Wei Sha, another debutant, was unlucky not to score on several occassions.
Andrew Young was very busy in the January transfer window and was able to give game time to George, Jemma and Barbara Young.
