Dramatic hair for Cancer Research UK

On May 25th, I will be shaving and donating my hair for Cancer Research UK and the Little Princess Trust. I have been fundraising since March and have raised £1,500 so far (now £1,800 with the generous donation from the Student Council!). The money goes straight to Cancer Research UK. The hair that I cut off is sent to the Little Princess Trust who make wigs out of real, donated hair for children and teenagers who suffer from hair loss through chemotherapy and alopecia. Although I could have decided to leave my hair very short, I have instead decided to shave the rest off, going almost completely bald. As a teenage girl with insecurities like everyone else I wanted to experience what it is like to be young and be without your hair, which is something so important to our identity, especially when we are young and vulnerable.

The donation from the Student Council is extremely generous and I am very grateful for it. I never expected to get any more than £500 at the start, and now I am closing in on £2000. Thank you so much!

I do not know whether to include this, but as a force of habit: if you would like to donate please do so at www.justgiving.com/annacloseshave2013
