Student's book published in Portugal

We are very lucky to have a published author amongst our student body here at St. Clare's. 17-year-old IB student Cassia do Carmo's book, The Two Friends, has recently been published in Portugal after being translated into Portuguese.

Cassia's book was first published in Israel when she was just 13 years old after she won a national Angolan writing competition organised by the Angolan Writers Union in partnership with the Embassy of Angola in Israel. The aim of the project was to help internationalise Angolan literature.

The Two Friends is a children's tale which explores the relationship between two girls, Sara and Sandra, whose friendship is put under strain as they go through changes in their lives.

At present Cassia is focussing on gaining her IB Diploma at St. Clare's but she has plans to write a book aimed at teenagers once she has finished her studies.

Cassia said: “I was delighted to have my story published. My aim was to show everyone my concept of friendship and I think it's great that the book has been translated into so many different languages.”
