David Staton has passed away
It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that David Staton, who taught History at St. Clare's, has passed away, quite suddenly and unexpectedly. The College alerted the police yesterday as we had not heard from David for several days; he was found in his house on Wednesday morning. David was the longest serving member of staff at St. Clare's and had worked for the College since 1979. He was known for his ready wit and humour and the fact that he was an outstanding teacher. He will be missed by all of us. What has come through so clearly, even in the short period which we have known about David's death, is just how much he was appreciated by everyone who worked here as well as the students he taught and mentored. The character of the tributes which have been made about him have been deeply moving. It is at times like this that I am grateful to be part of such a caring and supportive community. With my best wishes,Paula Holloway January
