On Tuesday afternoon we hosted the Student World University Fair, opening our doors for interested students to visit the 17 representatives of universities from Malaysia to New Zealand, the United States to The Netherlands. There was a buzz about the hall as our own students and those from local schools and some from as far as Reading and Birmingham, came to gather information.

The university representatives were very complimentary about St. Clare's students in particular as they felt that they asked 'higher order' questions than most students.

Many thanks to the student helpers, to Reception, and the Sugar House staff and porters for enabling the event to go so smoothly.

The Student World Fair is coming to St. Clare's!

Around 20 universities from all over the world will be at St. Clare's, Oxford on 19 March to advise students about overseas options for higher education as part of The Student World Fair.

The Student World Fair, organised by The Student World, is the only event of its kind dedicated to showcasing international universities to undergraduates and postgraduates in the UK. Students, parents, teachers and careers advisors will get the chance to meet representatives from the universities and will be able to find out about studying in the USA, China, The Netherlands, Spain, France, Ireland, New Zealand, the West Indies and Malaysia.

In 2012, 99 per cent of our pupils went on to university and of those, 15 per cent secured places elsewhere in Europe, six per cent travelled to the USA and two per cent ventured to Australia.

Liz Reece, Careers and Higher Education Adviser at St. Clare's, said: "It is great for St. Clare's to be able to host so many international universities at one time and for students from here and elsewhere to explore the options that for some might not have been a consideration before. We have a very strong philosophy in preparing students to make informed and realistic decisions about their future paths which includes exposing them to study options available all over the world."

Jemma Davies, from The Student World, said: "We're really looking forward to bringing The Student World Tour to Oxford and helping more undergraduates and postgraduates make an informed decision about studying abroad. Oxford has a global reputation as a centre for learning and St. Clare's is the most established provider of the International Baccalaureate in England and nearly a quarter of its students progress to universities overseas."
