A bon weekend in Paris

Twelve of our first year IB students who are studying French took a trip to Paris recently to learn about the culture and language. We asked student Renee Onosode to write a report on the visit for us, which you can read below.

Some first year students got a chance to get away from the academic atmosphere of St. Clare's and took the Eurostar for a “bon weekend” in Paris!

This trip was organised to enable the students studying French to broaden their knowledge of the language and to experience in depth the real, admirable culture of the French people. It was a breath of fresh air as it gave students a chance to get out of the classroom and actually apply their language skills from a more interesting and realistic perspective.

During the trip, the students had the chance to visit the more unique monuments and places in Paris, such as the Palace of Versailles, the Louvre Museum and Notre Dame Cathedral.

Even though I had been to Paris before, going with the St. Clare's students was definitely different, refreshing and exciting. The things we did and places we went to were amazing and above all, fun. I'm glad I went, and I actually think I understand French better now.

It is the little things like this that we do outside the classroom that helps the students in college to become more comfortable with what they are studying, and this therefore adds to the community of St. Clare's, making it a vibrant place to be.
