Fiesta Finale

Our second year IB physics, chemistry, biology and astronomy students recently completed their Group 4 experimental sciences projects this week, culminating in the big ‘Fiesta Finale' event, which was like a cross between Strictly Come Dancing and Bang Goes the Theory - all in the name of science!

This year's theme was sustainability and each team of students had spent the past month working on their experiments in the labs.

Each team produced a poster about their experiments and each had the chance to vote for their favourite. They then had to present their findings in an entertaining and fun way; some groups chose to do this through song, poetry and even dramatic performance. A voting panel, consisting of teachers and the Principal, Paula Holloway, awarded marks out of seven for science content and for entertainment value.

There were prizes awarded for best posters, best web geek and best team presentation. The winning team, who's project was called “Cheaper and Greener”, were given £50 to donate to Oxfam, and they chose to buy a gift of a couple of goats as they felt this fit in with the sustainability theme.
