Practical Science Course

David Fowkes, Director of IB Summer Courses explains This course is ideally suited to students who are about to embark on the IB Diploma but who have had little or no experience of practical science in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Laboratories

All practical laboratory sessions will be held within our brand new multi million pound science laboratories. Students will dramatically improve their science skills by carrying out actual scientific experiments in a laboratory rather learning science just within a classroom at their own school.

  • 40 hours specialist science classes over the 12 day course

Students will:

  • want to develop practical scientific laboratory skills
  • be enthusiastic about science
  • want to know more about careers in science, medicine, engineering and related area
  • have upper intermediate level English (CEF B2) or above
  • be age 15+ years

Evening activities programme:

  • sports
  • arts and crafts
  • competitions
  • discos, films and talent shows

Accommodation:

  • Students live in our own supervised houses
  • in comfortable, spacious study bedrooms
  • rest and relaxation common rooms

For meals students can choose to:

  • eat in the college dining room from a delicious range of hot and cold choices
  • meet friends in the Sugar House café
  • or prepare snacks in the kitchenettes in their houses
