We aim to create an international environment for our adult students, based on the university model. Our residences provide a safe living space where students are encouraged to take responsibility for themselves and to respect the rights of others. Support is always available – from the Accommodation & Welfare Officer during office hours and via our 24-hour hotline throughout the day and night. There are four residences for students aged 18+ at St. Clare’s. The facilities at each are similar but not identical.
Rules for Residences
We operate a relaxed approach to our accommodation but we obviously have some rules. All students in residence will receive a Student Handbook and meet with the Accommodation and Welfare Officer on the Monday after arrival day. View our Rules for Residences and our Agreement for Residences.
Some students choose to live in homestay with a local host. This choice gives students the opportunity to discover a different side of living in Oxford; they eat meals with their host each day and are able to learn more about life in the UK.
Homestay includes:
- A single room with shared bathroom or
- A superior room with an ensuite bathroom
- Storage space and study space in the room
- Breakfast and evening meal seven days a week if you are in the house
- The room will be cleaned, sheets and towels changed, and if you like your clothes can be washed once a week
- You will be able to use the shared areas of the house, shared bathroom facilities and be given a key to the front door
- Your host will help you settle into life in this country and into the life of a home in Britain.
